Dills obtains $6 Million Jury Verdict

A jury awarded $6 million yesterday to the widow of a King man killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving went off an overpass on U.S. 52 in a collision involving a drunken driver.

Jurors deliberated for 45 minutes before finding that Mickey Joe Hayes was liable in the death in 2004 of Mark Joseph Horn, 46, said attorney Jonathan Dills, who represented Horn’s widow, Constance, and Horn’s estate. The settlement in Forsyth Civil Superior Court means that Hayes and the Kernersville nightclub that served him alcohol, the Inzone, are jointly liable for the damages. The nightclub was found liable in Horn’s death in a trial in December 2006.
